Getxophoto 2012: Posters

Vizcaya, España / 2012

Client description: GETXOPHOTO is a festival dedicated to photography that takes place in Getxo (Basque Country) and supports the exploration of formats, stands and unconventional exhibition spaces to show the different images.

Brief: Getxophoto asked us to design the poster and image for the 6th edition of the photography festival, this is the third edition curated by Frank Kalero which theme is “In Praise of Childhood”

Approach and solution: To develop the concept, we asked ourselves of what is the common thing that children of very different ages love to do besides playing, and art related activity, that is how we find the coloring books. Doesn’t matter if you are a boy or a girl, if you have 3, or 6 or 13 years old, not even the country you live in, or the language you speak, coloring books are a universal language.

A series of three posters in collaboration with GUCHAGUCHA who created all the illustrations for the series. These posters with Getxophoto logo as the main character on different adventures, in the forest, in the city and in space.

After having them ready we realized that something was missing, the real essence of children, so we asked some kids with the permission of their parents to help us. We gave them color pencils, markers and crayons, to paint freely the poster, with no indication at all and the result was fantastic! we couldn’t make it any better.

We have to choose only one for each version, It was really difficult task, and we love all the paintings from many different versions that we got.

Client love the concept and the final result, the children have a lot of fun painting.
